Representatives from more than 70 Film Schools, Journalism Schools, Professional and Pre-Professional Education, Mentoring and Training organizations, Cultural Exchange programs, and Journalism/Press Freedom organizations attended the Golden Globe Foundation’s Annual Mixer at Film Independent on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The Foundation’s marquee event for its grant recipients provides attendees with a chance to:
-share knowledge and make lasting connections
-get advice on how to approach grantmakers
-plan collaborations
-learn about the GGF’s strategic plan and long-term goals
-share resources such as screening rooms, office/event space, production services, legal services, equipment, campus tours, internships, mentorships, partnerships
Grants Program Officer Sandra Cuneo kicked off the proceedings, which included a keynote speech on the importance of organizational identity by James Alva, CEO of Adelante Partners, followed by a Q&A moderated by GGF Board Member Miriam Spritzer.
Golden Globe Foundation President Henry Arnaud welcomed the “community of members and grantees” and noted the record number of Foundation members in attendance. CEO Gregory Goeckner discussed the road ahead and introduced representatives from Bank of America, which has provided Strategic Planning guidance for the Foundation. The Foundation will have a lasting impact on underserved communities long into the future.
Smaller breakout sessions led by Foundation members allowed more intimate discussions on challenges and successes in education, journalism, and training/exchange programs.
