Ruben V. Nepales and Brent Simon Named as Finalists for National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards

Golden Globe Foundation members Ruben V. Nepales and Brent Simon have been named finalists for Los Angeles Press Club’s 17th National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards.

The National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards were founded in 2008 and recognize the finest work from U.S.-based entertainment reporters and editors, as well as theater, film and television critics in all mediums — print, radio, TV and online.

The contest is open to all journalists covering arts and entertainment in the US, including International journalists. This includes international journalists working in a language other than English.

Ruben V. Nepales is a finalist in two online categories for articles written for the Filipino news website Rappler. His article “A lot of Robert Downey Jr., Vietnamese actors bring ‘The Sympathizer’ to life” is nominated for TV Feature. “Kevin Costner’s big financial gamble to make not one but four ‘Horizon’ films” is nominated for Film Feature, Actors.

Brent Simon is a finalist in the category of Journalist of the Year: Film Critic (Under 1000 words) for articles written for pop culture news website The A.V. Club.

The LA Press Club’s 17th National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards Gala will take place on December 1 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Kathy Bates, Melissa Etheridge, Kevin Frazier, and Tiffany Haddish will be honored at the event.
