The Golden Globe Foundation has long championed the work of the LGBTQIA+ community, be it through the support of dedicated LGBTQIA+ organizations like Outfest or the restoration of groundbreaking films with our partners in the restoration community. This month we’re celebrating the work of three grantee organizations who are actively working to support, showcase and celebrate LGBTQIA+ contributions.
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles Presents InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) hosts its June Monthly Film Festival dedicated to its celebration of its annual InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema program. The day consists of two InFocus: LGBTQ+ shorts programs showcasing a diverse range of exciting work from emerging LGBTQ+ creators whose films have screened at a variety of festivals and will take you on a journey, as well as writer-director Benjamin Howard’s queer coming of age feature film, Riley.
The Golden Globe Foundation supports NFMLA’s Monthly InFocus Film Festival program. The InFocus diversity initiative seeks to combat the lack of diversity in the film industry by giving underrepresented groups of filmmakers (i.e. race, ethnicity, region, age, gender, differently-abled status, sexual identity/orientation, indigenous heritage, cultural and socioeconomic background) the opportunity to showcase their work and connect with industry professionals during the Monthly Festival.
