The Golden Globe Foundation has a long history of dispersing funds raised by the broadcast of the Golden Globes directly to film and journalism students in the form of annual scholarships. Cal State University Northridge and Mt. San Antonio College recently held Scholarship Ceremonies, during which 26 students received funds, and Santa Monica College presented scholarships earlier this year.
The primary goal of the Golden Globe Foundation Mt. San Antonio College Scholarship is to provide annual support to students in the Arts Division. This includes students studying in TV & Film, Radio, Journalism and Theater programs. Scholarship support for students at Mt. SAC is enormously important and can mean the difference between being able to pursue the dream of a college education or not.
Four California State University Northridge students were presented with Golden Globe Foundation Diversity Fund scholarships at the Journalism Department’s annual scholarships ceremony. The scholarship is designed to support juniors or seniors from traditionally underserved communities and/or representing traditionally underrepresented groups, with demonstrated financial need.
Grants presented to Santa Monica College’s journalism program have funded 14 scholarships thus far for low-income students to develop storytelling techniques and think critically in real-world settings, by working as part of The Corsair’s staff. The Corsair is a student-run newspaper that provides news on the campus, the city, and the world.
