NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), in collaboration with Starz and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), has launched the fourth installment of the Starz #TakeTheLead Writers’ Intensive.

The program is designed to champion emerging television writers from underrepresented communities, equipping participants with immersive industry insights, creative development tools, and direct mentorship from leading showrunners, executives, and writers. Over the course of three weeks, selected writers will craft an episode treatment and pitch their work directly to Starz creative executives.

Submissions open on August 26 and close September 18. Finalists will also receive a Stage 32 Scholarship, granting unlimited access to more than 3,000 hours of professional training.

Past participants have described the experience as transformative. “The intensive allowed me to work closely with both active writers and executive mentors while simultaneously creating a spec script for a current Starz series,” shared Justin Omori, Season Three participant.

The Golden Globe Foundation is proud to support NFMLA as it continues to provide opportunities for emerging voices and foster authentic, inclusive storytelling in television.
