NewFilmmakers LA Announces Nominees for 14th Annual Best of NFMLA Awards

June 17, 2026

Golden Globe Foundation

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) has announced the nominees and jury for the 14th Annual Best of NFMLA Awards, recognizing 84 projects across 16 categories. The nominated films were selected from works showcased throughout NFMLA’s 2025 programming season, including projects developed through the organization’s InFocus initiative.

The Golden Globe Foundation is proud to support NFMLA’s efforts to champion emerging and diverse filmmakers through its Monthly InFocus Film Festival program and Student Membership Program. Through screenings, networking opportunities, educational workshops, and industry access, NFMLA provides filmmakers with a platform to share their work, engage with audiences, and build meaningful connections within the entertainment industry.

“This has been an extraordinary year for emerging storytellers and for the talented filmmakers we are proud to call NFMLA alumni,” said NFMLA Co-Founder and Executive Director Larry Laboe. “The success of our alumni at Sundance, the Academy Awards, and beyond reinforces what we’ve long believed and been a champion of: audiences are eager for original voices, fresh perspectives, and bold storytelling. We’re honored to celebrate these artists and support them as they continue building their careers.”

NFMLA’s InFocus diversity initiative seeks to address barriers to participation in the film industry by creating opportunities for filmmakers from underrepresented communities to showcase their work and connect with industry professionals. The Foundation’s support also helps provide Los Angeles County college and university students with access to NFMLA’s monthly programming and educational resources.

The Best of NFMLA Awards winners will be selected by a jury comprised of industry leaders representing companies and organizations across the entertainment landscape.
