NFMLA Opens Applications for Paid Graphic Design Internship Through LA County Arts Program

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) has opened applications for a paid Graphic Design internship through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture Arts Internship Program, offering students and recent graduates a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in the nonprofit arts sector.

The Organizational Graphic Designer position is a 400-hour paid internship completed over approximately 16 weeks. As part of the countywide Arts Internship Program, the role is designed to provide meaningful, career-building experience while supporting arts organizations across Los Angeles County. Internships may take place between June 2026 and March 2027, with schedules determined by the host organization.

Based in Los Angeles, the internship offers direct involvement in NFMLA’s creative output, supporting visual communications across marketing, events, and digital platforms. The role provides an opportunity to build a professional portfolio while contributing to an organization that champions emerging filmmakers and diverse storytelling.

Description
NFMLA is seeking a talented Graphic Design Intern to join the team and assist with creating both physical and digital marketing materials for the summer editions of the organization’s monthly, diversity-driven film festival events. This position will work approximately 25 hours per week, starting in June through September.

Qualifications

  • A passion for graphic design and a desire to work with a nonprofit film organization
  • Experience in social media graphic design and marketing
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • Experience with web design or WordPress preferred but not required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to showcasing innovative work by emerging filmmakers from around the world. Through its monthly screening events, NFMLA provides the Los Angeles community of entertainment professionals and filmgoers with a consistent platform for discovery. The organization creates opportunities for filmmakers to present their work, engage in audience discussions, and connect with industry professionals across distribution, production, acquisition, and representation.
