Erica Ash, the actress and comedian best known for her role as Bridgette Hartin on BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” has died aged 46.

Ash had a decades-long film and television career, starring in “Survivor’s Remorse,” “Mad TV,” “Scary Movie 5,” and “In Contempt”. She started out as a key performer on the Rosie O’Donnell-created series “The Big Gay Sketch Show” in 2006.

Ash attended the Golden Globe Foundation Grants Celebration at the Beverly Hilton on January 5th, introducing a video piece on the International Women’s Media Foundation with Mexican actress and model Renata Notni. The pair also announced the recipients of foundation grants in the category of “journalism and press freedom.”

“We offer our sincere condolences to Erica’s family and friends at this difficult time.” said Golden Globe Foundation Board Chair Henry Arnaud. “We are grateful that Erica took the time to join us in celebrating the work of the International Women’s Media Foundation, an organization working internationally to elevate the status of women in the media.”

In a statement released by Ash’s publicist, her Mother, Diann, said “Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”

“In honor of Erica’s memory, the family asks that any donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the Breast Cancer Foundation of your choice. We are grateful for the kind expressions of love and support during this difficult time.”
