Muralism has unveiled “Voices of the Americas” — a stunning mural in Sylmar painted with over 100 Osceola Elementary students. The work was designed by Principal Jose Velasquez and Muralism Director Ernie Merlán, and brought to life by artists Matt Dominguez, Cia Atkins, Jame Reiss, Stelios Chirgott, Anne Leffe, Xander Nini, Tiana Fazio, Kevin Smyth, Patrick Brady, and the students themselves.

The reveal featured inspiring speakers, including LAUSD Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, and Mayor Karen Bass, who is depicted on the mural alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchú Tum, and beloved Osceola teacher Dr. Theresa Derchan. Together, these figures symbolize the extraordinary contributions women have made to civil rights in America.

This milestone is part of Muralism’s Road to 100 campaign — an effort to complete 100 murals across Los Angeles before the 2028 Olympics, empowering artists with disabilities and engaging thousands of students and volunteers. With more than 80 murals already completed, the campaign is helping restore LA’s place as the “Mural Capital of the World.”

We’re honored that the Golden Globe Foundation has been a key part of this journey, supporting murals that unite communities and reflect the vibrant spirit of Los Angeles.
